Companies that have robust risk, reputation and stakeholder relations usually also have effective crisis management programs in place for those inevitable times when things go wrong.
Transparency International recently published its first analysis of corporate transparency, measuring the amount and quality of corporate disclosure by the world’s largest 120 enterprises. The results? Not a single U.S. company made the top ten most transparent companies (yet surprisingly one made the bottom ten: Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway). Six of the top ten companies were European, including Spain’s Banco Santander, coming in at number five.
One of my favorite virtual friends is Dr. Andrea Bonime-Blanc, the CEO and founder of GEC Risk Advisory LLC. While her career and current consulting is wide-ranging, I want to focus on her recent book, The Reputation Risk Handbook, which should be read by any compliance practitioner, senior executive or board member.
