In Indonesia, Two Anti-Corruption Court Judges Arrested For Graft

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested two anti-corruption court judges for alleged bribery last week.

The suspects hold positions as ad hoc judges in central Java, one in the Semarang anti-corruption court, and the other  in the Pontianak anti-corruption court.

The Jakarta Globe said they were arrested by the KPK while receiving $15,000 cash in a parking lot from a defendant in another corruption case. All three are now detained.

The speaker of Indonesia's house of representatives said the case demonstrates how the salary of anti-corruption court judges is far too low, according to the Jakarta Globe.

'People consider judges as representatives of God,' the speaker said, 'but they only are ordinary human beings that can give in to temptation, especially given the fact that a judge’s salary is so meager.'
